SYDNEY, NSW, Australia - Stocks across Asia generally made gains on Wednesday.
The only exception was the Hong Kong market where the Hang Seng retreated 34.67 points or 0.13 percent to 27,224.58.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 added 159.84 points or 0.53 percent to close at 27,548.00 Wednesday.
China's Shanghai Composite gained 25.87 points or 0.73 percent to 3,562.66.
The Australian All Ordinaries rose 55.10 points or 0.73 percent to 7,580.90.
The U.S. dollar made sweeping gains during the Asian time zone. Around the Sydney close Wednesday, the euro had plummeted to 1.1756. The British pound slumped to 1.3602. The Japanese yen blew out to 110.07. The Swiss franc eased to 0.9225.
The Canadian dollar was unwanted at 1.2712. The Australian dollar sank to 0.7297. The New Zealand dollar was friendless at 0.6904.
Overnight on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrials accelerated 549.95 points or 1.62 percent to 34,511.99.
The Standard and Poor's 500 added 64.57 points or 1.52 percent to 4,323.06.
The Nasdaq Composite advanced 223.89 points or 1.57 percent to 14,498.88.
